The 11 Week Ultimate Ski Instructor Course allows our Basecampers to gain 5 qualifications: CSIA Level 1 and 2, AST Level 1 (Avalanche), First Aid, CFSA Level 1 (Canadian Freestyle Ski Association) or CSCF Race Level 1 (Canadian Ski Coach Federation). This course is ideal for those looking to begin a career as a ski instructor.
5 QUALIFICATIONS IN 1 SEASON
Our Ultimate Ski Instructor Course in Banff allows our Basecampers to gain the following 5 qualifications:
CSIA Level 1 - The entry level ski instructor qualification for teaching novices and young children how to ski.The Canadian Ski Alliance (CSIA) level 1 is an introduction CSIA technique and methodology, and the role of ski teaching within the ski industry.
CSIA Level 2 - The Level 2 is the next level for skiers looking to start teaching intermediate skiers out on the mountain. Both the training and final examination for this award require dedicated training and a high level of skiing. Historically Basecamp students have enjoyed a high level pass rate, and this is something we pride ourselves on. Whilst the CSIA award enables you to teach all over the world, you will have discovered Canada now and will find it hard to go anywhere else.
CFSA Level 1 - The Canadian Freestyle Ski Association (CFSA) is the governing body in Canada for the sport of Freestyle Skiing. Basecampers will complete a 2 days freestyle course to qualify as a CFSA Level 1.
AST Level 1 - The Avalanche Skills Training Level 1 Course will provide an entry-level decision-making framework that is based on the most advanced knowledge available. It is suitable for use by people with basic training and little experience. AST Mission Statement: To provide leadership, development, communication, coordination and delivery of public avalanche safety products and services through a collaborative, diverse and multilevel network.
First Aid - Basecampers will do a 2 day mountain-specific first aid course preparing and educating participants for future use.

Q: Who is this course best suited to?
A: This course provides the best path into the industry! It's the best course for those looking to qualify as a level 2 instructor and work as an instructor the following season, or for those looking to significantly improve their skiing and enjoy a once in a lifetime experience.
Q: How good do you have to be at Skiing before the course?
A: We ask that you can comfortably ski red runs and occasional blacks
Q: Is the course hard to pass?
A: The level 1 isn't hard to pass. It's an entry-level qualification. Participants will be assessed on their ability to perform and teach on the mountain. We get a 100% pass rate year in year out. The Level 2 in a big step up from the Level 1, however the training you receive prior to the exam puts you in an excellent position to pass. The 2013/14 season boasts a 100% pass rate on level 1 and 2 in Banff.
Q: How likely is it that I’ll get a job?
A: Usually 95%. In recent years everyone who has wanted a job has secured one. We don't like to guarantee employment as it's down to the individual to posses the skill and attitude that employers are looking for. You're guaranteed a job interview, it's up to you to impress them and get the job.
