What to do?
As part of your gap year you could participate in a vast range of sports courses: Gap year watersports (BCU training, surfing, diving, sailing etc); Mountain sports (Climbing, MLTB training and cycling); Winter sports (Snowboarding, skiing); And traditional sports (Football, cricket, rugby etc).
There are plenty of specialist gap year tour organisers around. They cover every activity and location you can think of from trekking in the desert to shark spotting in Sydney.
A volunteering gap year can be a fantastic experience that you will remember for the rest of your life, and here’s the ‘but’ – you need to prepare thoroughly to ensure you pick the right activity, and don't disrupt volunteer projects by backing out or leaving early.
Every year, more than 100,000 of us take a gap year or career break. The gap year and even career breaks have become a British institution and an accepted rite of passage.
